GeoReader: Learning Latent Geometry for Spatial Reasoning in Vision-Language Models
Vision-language models (VLMs) struggle with metric and multi-view relationships that remain implicit in RGB observations. Geometry foundation models recover this structure from RGB, but existing methods either fuse the estimated features with visual tokens and learn to use them from question answering alone, or align VLM latents with geometry features. Capturing geometry, however, does not ensure its use: zeroing the aligned latents of a released feature-alignment model leaves its accuracy unchanged. We introduce GeoReader, a framework that learns geometric representations for the VLM that reads them. First, we train lightweight Geometric Readers to produce continuous input tokens, supervising them with geometry descriptions decoded by a frozen VLM, so that the Readers express geometry in a form the target model can already read. We then freeze the Readers to preserve this interface while fine-tuning the VLM on spatial QA, with geometry injection conditioned on the question. Geometry descriptions serve only as training targets: at inference, the VLM answers directly from the continuous geometric tokens without generating a geometry chain of thought. With geometry predicted from RGB images, our approach reaches 94.3 on MindCube-Tiny with Qwen3-VL-4B and, with a multi-source QA mixture, an average of 72.5 across six additional spatial benchmarks with Qwen3.5-9B. These results suggest that a useful geometric representation is one the receiving model can use, not merely one from which geometry can be reconstructed.
UniW(A)M: A Unified Mixture-of-Experts Framework for World and World-Action Models
World models (WMs) and world-action models (WAMs) focus on future world prediction and executable action generation, respectively. Although these models learn shared physical dynamics and interaction semantics from embodied trajectories, they are typically trained in isolation, which restricts knowledge reuse between prediction and control. The central challenge is therefore to develop a unified learning framework that shares these dynamics while preserving the distinct modeling capabilities required by each paradigm. We propose UniW(A)M, a mixture-of-experts world-(action) model built upon diffusion Transformers that unifies action-conditioned world modeling and diverse WAM variants. Shared experts capture common dynamics, while atomic capability experts are reused across interfaces so that each interface keeps its own conditional pathway. At deployment, a plug-in adaptive interface router (PAIR) learns from a small subset of target-task chunk scenarios to select a suitable WAM interface for each execution chunk, balancing task success and execution efficiency while keeping the backbone frozen. We evaluate UniW(A)M on LIBERO, RoboTwin 2.0, and three real-world manipulation tasks, where it achieves 88.3% average real-world success versus 76.7% for the strongest baseline. On WorldArena, it leads action-conditioned world modeling on all three tasks. AC-WM co-training contributes to action generation on every action interface and PAIR raises OOD success from 63.3% to 76.7%.
Unlocking Token Rewards via Training-Free Reward Attribution
In this paper, we propose an extremely efficient, training-free method to extract token-level reward signals directly from an existing deep reward model. Our core idea is to attribute the overall process reward to individual tokens by estimating each token's influence. This influence is defined as the change in the final macroscopic reward (e.g., the process reward) when a token is replaced with a semantically null token. Naively calculating this influence is computationally infeasible, requiring N forward passes through the PRM for an N-token sequence. We overcome this bottleneck by proposing a highly efficient gradient-based estimator. Specifically, we use a first-order Taylor approximation, which simplifies the influence calculation to the inner product of the difference between the token embedding and the null token embedding, and the gradient of the reward with respect to the token embedding. This requires only a single forward and backward pass. The resulting token-level rewards enable standard RL algorithms to perform precise credit assignment without requiring additional reward model training. Experiments on challenging reasoning benchmarks demonstrate that our method substantially improves policy optimization efficiency and enhances the generalization of LLM reasoning capabilities. Our P2T outperforms the outcome reward by +4.9% on MathVista for Qwen2.5-VL-7B-Instruct, and +11.5% on AIME24 for Qwen2.5-Math-7B. The code will be released via https://github.com/stonewst/P2T.
Steertuning Policies from a Few Human Videos
Current recipes for robot learning require massive amounts of robot demonstrations to obtain robust and adaptive policies. In this work, we introduce Steertuning, a system that enables robots to learn new tasks in new environments from 5 human demonstrations in under 5 Steertuning consists of two parts. (1) We pretrain a 400M-parameter diffusion policy on our egocentric human dataset, which consists of 100 hours of densely annotated random interactions. This pretraining makes Steertuning robust to background differences and enables spatial and object generalization when deployed on new tasks. (2) Given 5 demonstrations of a new task, we finetune our model for only 2 minutes (2000 training updates) and steer the policy's actions during reverse sampling using the demonstration whose observation is closest to that of the deployment environment. Together with a carefully designed data processing pipeline for embodiment transfer, this enables Steertuning to achieve a 71% success rate across 12 tasks in 12 new environments, ranging from lab settings to kitchens in new homes. The entire process, from data collection for a new task to robot policy deployment, takes less than 5 minutes. Our full dataset, model weights, codebase, and robot videos will be made available at our website: https://steertuning.github.io.
A Rate Transfer Method: Convergence Rates in Stochastic Gradient Descent via Stochastic Calculus
We develop a rate-transfer method that converts finite-time Lyapunov estimates for an associated stochastic differential equation (SDE) into finite-time convergence bounds for stochastic gradient algorithms. Under generic moment and smoothness conditions, the convergence analysis of the stochastic gradient method reduces to a calculus argument verifying a Lyapunov generator inequality for the SDE. The method recovers established rates for classical stochastic gradient methods and provides a way to establish convergence rates for new optimization algorithms through calculus arguments applied to their associated SDEs.
SolBehave: Evaluating the Behavioural Correctness of LLM-Generated Smart Contracts
Large language models increasingly generate Solidity smart contracts that, once deployed, can never be patched, making a single latent fault permanent and exploitable. Yet current evaluations mostly ask only whether generated code compiles. We introduce SolBehave, a benchmark for evaluating the correctness of model-generated contracts at scale, moving beyond ad hoc unit tests. Across 250 real, reproducible Ethereum contracts, we apply three complementary tests of behavioural fidelity: differential fuzzing, historical-transaction replay, and, as our core contribution, synthetic-transaction replay guided by a Dynamic Condition Response (DCR) graph that enumerates the space of legitimate function-call sequences. Differential fuzzing compares each generated function with the original on automatically generated inputs; historical replay compares the whole contract on the transactions it actually received on-chain; DCR-guided replay compares it on sequences of calls that follow its intended usage, including orderings that never occurred on-chain. We evaluate seven state-of-the-art open-weight models after one round of automated repair. Compilation success ranges from 26.4% to 92.7%, but under differential fuzzing only 31.4% of all generated function bodies that compile, pooled over models and samples, are equivalent to the original. Divergence at the contract level is the norm rather than the exception: for six of the seven models, between 13% and 31% of the generated contracts that compile diverge from the original under historical replay, and between 13% and 44% under DCR-guided replay; only Gemma-4-31B stays below 3% on both. Compilation is therefore a necessary condition for correctness and far from a sufficient one.
PreciseCoder: Faithful and Generalizable Debugging Beyond Unit-Test Rewards
Reinforcement learning (RL) from unit tests is the common recipe for post-training code models, but a unit test only asks whether the final program passes. We analyze what this unit-test-only reward teaches a model during debugging and find that, while it raises pass rates, it also teaches the model to edit more and to hallucinate bugs in code that is already correct. We introduce PreciseCoder, a training algorithm that augments the unit-test reward with a signal for semantically verified, localized edits, which correlates with smaller edits and higher pass rates. On 4B, 9B, and 27B models, PreciseCoder reduces the average number of edit lines from 7-15to 3 at a pass rate on par with unit-test-only training. Trained only on single-line bugs, PreciseCoder can generalize to repository-level program repair, where it resolves more issues with smaller patches. Its precision also transfers from weaker to stronger models: given the reasoning trace of a 9B PreciseCoder model, frontier models such as GPT-5.6 Sol and Qwen3.8-Max gain 4.6-12.4 points in edit precision with no additional training. Linguistic analysis of the thinking traces shows that our reward encourages the model to reason about individual lines, name the buggy ones, and form consistent bug hypotheses.
Beyond the Verdict: Agentic Code Judging with Verifiable Feedback
Test-time scaling for large language models (LLMs) can involve generating multiple candidate solutions for selection or revising an earlier attempt. To guide selection and revision, we need a verifier that can estimate candidate correctness and provide evidence of failure. In competitive programming, however, official judging systems provide authoritative verdicts under finite submission budgets, without revealing failure explanations or failing inputs. To provide informative feedback without consuming official submissions, we formulate a task in which a model judges and diagnoses a candidate program using only the problem statement and source code, with generated counterexamples serving as checkable evidence. To evaluate this task, we build USACO-JUDGE from the USACO 2026 contests, using accepted and unaccepted programs written by human experts and multiple LLMs. We then train ARBITER, a 35B mixture-of-experts (MoE) agentic verifier, with reinforcement learning in a generic execution sandbox. Training raises counterexample success on incorrect programs from 40.61% to 62.67% and mean binary verdict accuracy on USACO-JUDGE from 71.41% to 87.41%, approaching frontier verification performance. Beyond verification, ARBITER outperforms baselines in both code selection and refinement. In an IOI 2026 case study, ARBITER-guided refinement raises GPT-OSS-120B's expected score above the gold-medal threshold under the official submission limit.
Jeva: System One Models from First Principles
System one models enable direct, low-latency decision-making. Yet recent practice of predicting an answer from serialized text does not, by itself, respect the structure of a decision problem. We argue that current designs underemphasize four important structural requirements. (i) null-aware: Models should distinguish answer absence from uncertainty among candidates; (ii) permutation-invariant: Reordering alternatives should not change the decision; (iii) option-scalable: Growing candidate sets should not require redefining the output space; (iv) cacheable: Request-independent computation over recurring alternatives should be reusable across requests. We introduce Jeva, a decision-native architecture that addresses these requirements jointly. A shared encoder independently represents the request and each option, while a compact decision stack refines only the request state against immutable option memory. Symmetric aggregation yields permutation-equivariant probabilities; shared scoring accommodates variable-size candidate sets. A separate coverage estimate distinguishes answer absence from candidate competition, enabling explicit null outcomes. Request-independent option representations and layer projections support reuse across newly assembled sets. These mechanisms unify Choice, Noul, and Score outputs. Across evaluations, Jeva combines strong typed-decision performance with near-perfect null detection and no decision flips under any tested permutations. It scales to thousands of candidates and substantially reduces latency through cross-request reuse without changing decisions.
Transformer
SEAR: Self-Evolving Agentic Robotics
Frontier language-model agents can now improve robots on their own: they write control code, test it, and keep what works as skills and memories for the next task. We introduce SEAR (Self-Evolving Agentic Robotics), a framework and benchmark built around two questions. Is the agent really learning, or just trying more often? And does what it learns still help on new tasks, in a new simulator, and on a real robot? The framework runs an agent in three modes: it writes code that becomes the policy (code-as-policy), acts live in the control loop (agent-as-policy), or works as a researcher that fine-tunes a vision-language-action model (auto-research). The benchmark adds controls that separate retained experience from repeated attempts, familiar tasks, privileged simulator state, larger budgets, and luck. Across seven frontier language models, 330 simulated and five physical tasks, and over four years of agent runtime, we highlight three findings. First, the learning curve of a robotic agent depends both on the overall time budget and the task difficulty relative to model capability. Harder tasks make longer sessions worthwhile; on easier tasks, re-rolling short attempts does just as well. Second, control code and shared routines transfer across tasks and simulators, while task-specific solutions do not. On a real robot, we observe a performance gap between agent-designed practice and novel human-designed scenes. Third, different models evolve more effectively in different ways. Some do best acting live, others writing code first. And a text-only model keeps pace with a comparable multimodal one: perception helps with error assessment, but agentic reasoning and tool use can matter more. We release the benchmark and codebase to support future research.
通过这种自适应机制,ADiCo 的平均性能达到或超过 DiCo(通过网格搜索得到的最佳多样性目标值)和 Unconstrained DiCo(允许多样性在没有目标调节的情况下自然形成)。
Self-Evolving Agent Harness
Harness self-evolution revises an agent's software scaffolding, including prompts, memory, workflows, and executable components, while keeping model weights fixed. We formalize a feedback-driven process in which accepted revisions persist across runs. The framework separates update targets from proposal and admission mechanisms. It distinguishes changes to interpreted state from revisions to tools and code, repository-level control logic, and plugin composition. We characterize search through evolutionary optimization and examine its reliability through continual PAC-learning. Under explicit assumptions, the analysis yields an expected generalization bound, a retention bound conditional on historical regression budgets, and a high-probability admission rule using fresh, independent validation data. We examine how persistent harness revisions affect knowledge sharing and organizational workflows, with implications for scientific reliability, physical safety, and institutional accountability. Cases from prior work illustrate model--harness co-design, distributed execution, and plugin reuse. Reliable deployment requires continual validation as task distributions and evaluators change, with independent safeguards for learning, runtime privileges, and consequential actions. We provide a comprehensive 66-page discussion of related work, theory, algorithms, evaluation, applications, and the broader impact of Harness RSI, together with continuously updated code and supplementary materials, at https://github.com/zgcagi/Harness-RSI.
Read the Room Before Your Model Generates
Large language models (LLMs) generally rely on sampling temperature to regulate the amount of randomness in their outputs. Mainstream methods for selecting temperature typically involve fixed, heuristic global settings and context or token-level calibration, rather than a geometrically interpretable representation of the communicative scenario. In this work, we introduce a simple and interpretable temperature selection framework, the \textbf{Scenario-Actor}, which adapts decoding to the inferred situational characteristics. Scenario-Actor extracts scenario-relevant structures from Transformer hidden states and determines the temperature from scenario embedding, a structured geometric representation of the communicative setting. Empirical results show that on Llama-3.1-8B-Instruct, Scenario-Actor achieves strong goal-completion performance in interactive social scenarios, significant gains on open-ended instruction following, and competitive performance on multi-turn conversation compared to multiple baselines.

Fast Rates for Offline Q-Learning with KL Regularization
This paper investigates offline Q-learning for finite-horizon Markov decision processes with Kullback-Leibler (KL) regularization. Recent studies have shown that KL regularization can yield fast rates in offline decision-making problems. However, it remains unclear whether Q-learning, which adopts incremental stochastic approximation updates, can achieve such fast rates in the offline setting. We first propose KL-regularized Q-Learning (KLQ), a simple variant of classical Q-learning. By exploiting KL regularization, we prove that KLQ achieves a sample complexity of $\widetilde{O}(1/ε)$ without explicit pessimism. This guarantee, however, has an exponential dependence on the KL regularization parameter and the horizon. To address this limitation, we further propose KL-regularized Pessimistic Q-Learning (KLPQ), which incorporates pessimism into KLQ. We prove that KLPQ retains the same \(\widetilde O(1/ε)\) rate while removing the explicit exponential dependence, thereby further improving the sample complexity. To the best of our knowledge, these results establish the first fast-rate guarantees for offline Q-learning in tabular finite-horizon KL-regularized MDPs.
Two Clocks: Why Larger Rollout Batches Learn Slower but Fail on Schedule in Reinforcement Learning with Verifiable Rewards
Reinforcement learning with verifiable rewards (RLVR) relies on costly model-generated responses, motivating larger rollout batches and square-root learning-rate scaling. Reported to approximately preserve progress per sample with one optimizer step per rollout, this rule is less understood in practical multi-step training. We develop a two-clock framework that separates the samples needed to make progress from those consumed before collapse. Under a local quadratic model, the square-root rule preserves first-order drift per sample but not progress: larger batches take fewer, longer updates and lose more to curvature, yielding a learning-rate-dependent critical batch beyond which sample efficiency degrades. A drift-threshold hypothesis predicts a complementary failure clock whose sample count remains approximately invariant along the square-root rule. Controlled GRPO experiments on Qwen2.5-Math-1.5B across a $16\times$ batch range support both predictions. Ratio clipping delays failure, especially for larger batches, but the progress gap persists without it. Widening the clip trades stability for a transient speed gain. The progress gap reappears on another dataset, a general-purpose checkpoint, and a 7B model. Finally, we use the two-clock framework to derive a simple multi-step RLVR schedule: start below the critical batch and switch to a larger batch before failure. Our code is available at: https://github.com/WinstonLiyt/two-clocks-rlvr.
Tev:

Ask HN: Is AI-written code less secure if you don't use Daybreak (or similar)
Hello, I have this hypothesis that AI written code is less secure by default than it could be; that is, if you don't use Daybreak / Cyber Verification Program / uncensored models and such. Maybe someone with access knows? So the question is whether, by default, code is less secure if written by the same (or very similar) model but without that kind of special access. It isn't about code reviews necessarily, but rather about just e.g. saying "Yo AI please write me app so and so". And then seeing if the output is as good if you aren't in these special access programs or have some good local model. Because I see myself relying more and more on my "regular people" AI's judgement regarding security when it writes stuff, and I feel like this might be a mistake (even for simple non-critical projects). But idk how I would know, without using these models and running some tests. So I wonder if someone has some info on this?
